- What is 'Hospiteren'?: presenting yourself
When it is your turn to rent a room, you can visit the different floors on which a room will be vacated, in order to both view the room and meet your prospective co-tenants. They will organize an evening on which you can present yourself as a candidate ('hospiteeravond'). Appointments for this can be made via this site.
- Am I obliged to present myself for a temporary room?
As opposed to other SSH-rooms, you don't have to present yourself for temporary rooms. Instead, you will be allocated a room. It is posssible to first see it.
- What happens if you are not chosen at any of the evenings where you can present yourself ('hospiteeravond')?
If you haven't succeeded in finding a room in three months, there are two possibilities. Either we agree to give you extra time, or you can ask us to reserve you a room which will be allocated to you without having to present yourself. Before we allocate a room, we will always check how many times you have presented yourself in those three months.
- If I don't want a particular room, am I entitled to refuse it?
The procedure of presenting yourself entitles you to refuse as often as you wish. But if it turns out that you have refused quite a few offers, you will not be allocated a room after three months.
- I live in Curaçao, but am coming over to Holland in a few months´ time. Do I have to present myself as well, or is it different for me?
You could already start responding to the temporary rooms on offer, which are allocated to whoever is highest on the priority list at the time. So, in this case you don't have to present yourself. However, once you have a temporary room, you can start presenting yourself in order to get a different room by responding to rooms in the 'Currently Available' list.
