I am not studying yet, is it a good idea to already register for a room?
You are entitled to register with us from the age of 17. It's a good idea to already register, since our rooms are allocated based on your registration number. The sooner you register, the bigger your chances are to get a room via the 'Currently Available' list.
If you can proof that you start your education at age 17, it is possibl to register wit SSH when you're 16. Please contact one of our housing officers: +31 30 25 25 725.
Can I register with SSH if I haven't yet registered for a University or Technical College?
Yes, everyone from 17 to 27 can register with us, since it is not coupled with registration for Higher Education. However, please bear in mind that once you apply for a room in De Uithof, IBB, Tuindorp-West or Stadspand with rent allowance, you do have to be registered for Higher Education.
What does combi or dual registration entail?
Combi or dual registration is economic, as it entitles you to register for a room with both SSH and WoningNet. WoningNet is in charge of renting out all letting properties in the Utrecht area that are owned by building corporations.
What does it cost to register?
Registration with SSH costs € 27,50. For € 37,50 you will be registered with both SSH and WoningNet. You can pay the registration fee via a one time approval direct debit. WoningNet charges a further annual sum of € 9,- for extending registration.
What is the procedure for registering?
After you have registered on this site and paid the registration fee, you will receive your Login details. With these, you can log in to this site and respond to any of the rooms on offer. Remember to keep us informed of any changes in address or other contact details, so that we can always reach you.
When exactly did I register with SSH?
Your registration number tells you that, as it begins with the year and month of registration. For example: If your registration number is 2006120115, you registered in December 2006.
If I am no longer interested in a room, will the registration fees be refunded?
No, there is no restitution of registration fees or administrative costs.
